Subject: My First Show!!
Ok, so I didn't know jack sh*t aside from Uncle John's, Truckin' and Dead Set when I went to this show and, in fact, my friend and I agreed that Van Halen's version of "Dancing in the Street" was much better than the Dead's! Hehe. I'm still on the fence on that one. ;-) I haven't heard this show in many years, and it's a true joy to hear it again. This wasn't an especially tremendous show, but it was solid and, hell, it was my first. Highlights are a great second-set High Time, a very rockin' post-space, and some energetic first set tunes (BIODTL especially nice).

My other favorite memory from this show is walking out to the hallway to go to the bathroom and ... holy sh*t, what the hell is going on out here??!!! There's people *everywhere* in the hallway dancing! Some old hippy smiles and with an inviting tone says to me "dance! dance!" A few years later, the hallway would become my standard place for a Dead show, but at this point I was very intrigued, but a little freaked out too! :-)

Subject: Rochester Rocks
Rochester sucks in almost everyway EXCEPT smokin hot Dead shows. Since the band broke up, what have those Chesters' been sustaining themselves on...I know they refurbished this old rink years back, but there is no way to exorcise the spirits that haunt that stage... I heard that during the last Hannah Montana show, Hannah went to do a costume change and came back on wearing brown sweat pants and black tee, broke into a fit when she noticed she was missing part of her right hand...
